No Boat, No Problem! Cruise with Keuka Watersports: Rentals & More!

Have you really received the most out of your trip to Hammondsport without an excursion on the refreshing waters of Keuka Lake?  The answer’s no, but if you don’t own a boat or kayak, don’t fret. Keuka Watersports has you covered. They’ve literally got everything you need to enjoy the water: kayaks, paddle boards, jet skis, and boat rentals. Maybe jet skiing or kayaking isn’t your cup of tea; may I suggest you book a pontoon boat cruise with them during your stay?

Every summer day at 5PM, Keuka Watersports hosts a pontoon cruise on the lake, something we were recently invited to experience for ourselves.  Let me ask you something: Do you ever feel like you could use a relaxing, carefree evening? This is it.

Meet Keuka Watersport’s Captain Joe!

The cruise is about an hour and a half and takes off from Depot Park. The voyage has been led for the past three years by Captain Joe (who also happens to be the friendliest guy you’ll ever meet).  He begins by heading the craft northbound on the east side of Keuka Lake. Along the way, you’ll pass dozens upon dozens of beautiful Hammondsport homes situated right on the shore, while Captain Joe fills you in on a miscellany of Crooked Lake legends, trivia, history, and anecdotes. You’ll also view several wineries nestled in the hills on the west side such as Heron Hill Winery, Bully Hill Vineyards, and Dr. Konstantin Frank Winery, to name a few! As you near the bluff after about 45 minutes, you’ll be squarely over one of the deepest parts of the lake: the floor of the lake rests 186 feet below you! At this point, the boat will make its way to the western shore and head southbound towards Hammondsport. On the way back to the village, you’ll come across many more beautiful homes, historical structures such as Gold Seal Winery (originally built in 1865 and known as the Urbana Wine Company until 1957), and even a few of our member businesses - The Waterfront Restaurant and Snug Harbor

You’ll return to Depot Park around 6:30, which leaves plenty of time to enjoy several of the restaurants on and around Keuka Lake!

The cruise carries up to ten people so book a few spots, or rent out the whole boat for your own private charter! And what’s an evening on the lake without dipping into the water for a few minutes? Kids (and the young at heart!) will get a kick out of the slide connected to the boat! Book your pontoon cruise today!

Keuka Watersports has four locations. Just steps from the boat cruise launch is their lake shop office, full of everything you need for a day out on the lake: sunscreen, towels, life jackets, apparel, sandals, sunglasses. Visit their location at Champlin Beach (Route 54 next to Fire Department) to rent a kayak, paddleboard, and jetskiis —open daily 10AM-6PM. They also have a sales office at 7995 State Route 54 and a service & boat storage location across from the Glenn H. Curtiss Museum
