Music in the Park returns to Hammondsport this July with another exciting lineup of artists!

Music in the Park returns this summer with another exciting lineup of artists! This fun and family-friendly series of summer events will be held every Thursday (weather permitting!) during July & August from 6p - 8p. What better way to enjoy this event than with a delicious meal from one of our many restaurants that offer outdoor seating? Many of our shoppes will be open as well! Event programs will be available at the Visitor Center (and on the homepage) in the coming weeks and will include more information about the performing artists, our sponsors, and general area info. Be sure to follow us on Facebook for the latest updates on possible show cancellations in the event of inclement weather.

Summer Lineup & Artist Bios

Abby Payne | July 4

Like one of her biggest creative influences (Bjork), Abby Payne seems to make her own little world with every song, every album, and every music video.  Sometimes, as with her new concept album, The Gunfighter Meets His Match (which is forthcoming this year along with a short story of the same title, and is inspired by Louis L’Amour’s frontier stories), this is an explicitly aesthetic representation of content.  But just as often, Payne’s creation of a world entails nothing more—and nothing less—than a total, authentic commitment to the peculiar and magical universe that is a great song.  And her songs are great: reminiscent of Fiona Apple, they feature interesting and sometimes intricate orchestration, but never at the expense of the pure and visceral immediacy of unaffected lyrics, a smoky, warm voice, and a refreshing earnestness that harkens back to the era of the Great American Songbook.

A Touch of Grey with Payton Clark | July 11

Payton Clark is a 15 year old singer, songwriter, and guitar player from Corning, NY.

Bruce Holler & Peter Baker | July 18

Local legend Bruce Holler has been the strumming hands of harmony in Hammondsport for decades. Joining Bruce will be longtime friend Peter Baker for an exciting duo show for the community in which they live and work. As much as Music In The Park is about bringing musicians from far and wide to display talents and tastes of other musical regions, we’re thrilled to feature our own homegrown harvest.

It’s My Party! | July 25 (Rain date: July 29)

We believe there truly is magic in a young girl’s heart. And we think the music that captures it best is the sound of the 1960s girls groups! The idea for our group was born in 1984 when record store owner Ron Stein put The Chiffons’ Greatest Hits into the hands of a young rock ’n‘ roll enthusiast named John Giotto. (John is our producer and our drummer.) Thanks to Ron’s musical mentoring, John was inspired with a vision that would last for over 30 years! Today, we’re proud to say IT’S MY PARTY! is a 1960s vintage experience, complete with a 14-piece orchestra and original songs written especially for us! Our tight harmonies, vintage costumes, and retro choreography are all set to the highest standards of the 1960s girl groups. When we’re on stage singing our hearts out, we’re the closest thing to an authentic 1960s girl group you’ll find today!
