SUNY Corning Community College is hosting an Education Summit on May 6 and 7, 2019, at SUNY CCC (1 Academic Dr., Corning, N.Y.) to address the nationwide teacher shortage. The two-day Summit features keynote presenter Erin Gruwell, author of The Freedom Writers Diary: How a Teacher and 150 Teens Used Writing to Change Themselves and the World Around Them. Gruwell's presentation is titled "Become aCatalyst for Change" and discusses how to overcome obstacles and create positive change from within. She will offer tips to be the educator you need to be and get the support you need to do so.
The committee is currently seeking nominations for Outstanding Educators. Those selected will be recognized at the Summit. Nomination forms are also available online at http://bit.ly/EducationSummit2019.
