The tour begins at the Dr. Konstantin Frank winery where we head underground to our barrel cellar. Here you will learn the process of barrel production, the different types of oak and where they originate from, and alternatives to barrel aging with amphora. We will taste two wines, one unoaked and one oaked, to explore the differences between them, and taste current vintage wines aging in barrel. At the conclusion of the tour, a seated flight of wines are paired with the chef’s seasonal bites where you taste wines that have aged in barrel of varying levels of new oak and time.
Please arrive at our 1886 Reserve Tasting Room at least 5 minutes before the starting time of the event. Just south of the main winery and tasting rooms is the stone house named Chateau Frank. Once you pull into the driveway and park, walk towards the rear of the building and you will see stairs leading up to the 1886 Reserve Room. The event will feature some walking in our vineyards, so we suggest wearing suitable shoes.
